Bio

Junyi (Jimmy) Liu is a classical pianist residing in the Highland Park neighborhood of Pittsburgh, PA.  He has been playing piano since age 6, when he moved to Pittsburgh from Chang Chun, China.  Jimmy found much success in piano competitions while growing up, winning the Duquesne Young Artists, PPTA, MTNA PA State, Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra, and many others.  After high school Jimmy attended Carnegie Mellon University, where he received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in piano performance, as well as certificates in piano tuning and piano pedagogy.  He is the founder of Presto Piano Studio with over 45 students, ages 5-75.  Jimmy is also the piano technician for Chatham University, and has tuned for over 900 private clients around Pittsburgh.  His students have won competitions, performed at Carnegie Hall in NYC, Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh, and played with orchestras.  Jimmy is also a founding member of Piano4te, a unique 4 piano group performing works for 4 pianos.
